Jesse Steele from Saorsa Farm in Oregon made a 36+ hour round trip to pick up five purebred Red Wattle gilts to expand his breeding program. A huge thank you for making the long journey and for your impressive dedication to developing this breed’s genetics here in the USA. The girls look right at home in your lush green pastures—a big change from our dry Arizona desert landscape!

We still have a few gilts available for anyone looking to add quality Red Wattle genetics to their herd. Plus, we have pork shares and individual cuts in stock for those wanting to enjoy this delicious heritage breed at home.

We processed a batch of Cornish Cross yesterday, clearing out the run. Last night, I went to collect the feeders and drinkers from the should be empty chicken run, and....

🎶 At first I was afraid... I was petrified... 🎶

But then I remembered—I’m a Cornish Cross chicken on Horsethief Homestead… and I will survive!
(As long as I stay in the shadows and don’t look too delicious 😅)

A 3 hour feed haul to Maid Right Feeds in Wilcox turned nightmare. Trailer had a flat tire 9 miles before Wilcox, luckily found a place in Wilcox to replace. About a 45 min delay. On the way home 12 miles before Benson, 2nd tire blew out. Now sitting at Del’s tires in Benson. I may make it home tonight.
