🚨 TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE – TROPICAL DEPRESSION FIVE 🌀

The Hardin County Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor Tropical Depression Five as it moves west-northwest across the northern Gulf.
The system currently has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving west-northwest at 6 mph. Strengthening is expected, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm before reaching the northwestern Gulf Coast on Tuesday and moving inland over Southeast Texas Tuesday night.
⚠️ CURRENT WATCHES & WARNINGS
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Lower Vermilion Parish.
A Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Watch are in effect for East Cameron, Lower Jefferson, and West Cameron Parishes.
At this time, Hardin County is not included in a Tropical Storm Warning, but inland impacts remain possible as the system moves into Southeast Texas.
🌧️ WHAT HARDIN COUNTY SHOULD PREPARE FOR
The primary concern for Southeast Texas is heavy rainfall and the potential for flooding. Periods of heavy rain could result in rapidly rising water in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, overflowing ditches and small streams, hazardous driving conditions, and possible road closures.
💨 WIND: Gusty winds may also impact Southeast Texas. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and be prepared for the possibility of downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.

Charge phones and backup batteries, secure outdoor objects, check emergency supplies, and make sure your household has multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Never drive through a flooded roadway.
Do not focus solely on the exact forecast track. Heavy rain and other impacts can occur well away from the center of a tropical system, and changes to the forecast are still possible.
