Lohr Land Farms

Lohr Land Farms Providing hay and quality Angus beef at the local level. Family Farm that dates back to the late 1800’s in central Davidson County, NC.

Locally owned and operated by Tyler Lohr Forrest, Lohr Land Farms was initially established in the 1800's by the Lohr Family who raised a variety of farm products and timber for decades. After the death of key family members the farm remained dormant for many years. During this time frame the love for farming never left the soul of the remaining family, nor did the desire to reinvent the farm. Fol

This is probably the first year since I have been farming on my own I’ve really been worried about pond levels and the fish, stocking the barns with hay, and livestock having something other than grass that’s like a burned french fry to eat. Those of you who have been around this block, any feed tips for cattle to help supplement other than hay? We are trying to save for winter. We have some stockpiled pastures I was going to mow hay on, but looks like they are going to be opened up for grazing.

PSA: If you need hay for the year and winter, start stockpiling now if you live in the southeast. Production is down roughly 40% due to drought. This isn’t to scare you, but prepare you.

Ever heard a bull snore?? Our big boy ‘Legette’ (Luke named after his favorite Panthers player) showed foot lameness so we needed to get a pedicure to see if he had an infection. The wonderful Dr. H with Lexington Large Animal Medicine & Surgery played rodeo this morning to sedate our gentle giant. He did in fact have a large stinky ulcer so will wake up feeling so much better!! Volume up!!

Nothin’ says lovin’ like lunch time working cattle 🥴😆 We have a new calf this morning so Princess Freckles had to be separated since she was trying to partake in moo juice availability. Mom’s face says it all. 🍼🐄🐮
