What a year! 🍕🔥

From catering your big moments to farmers markets, local community events, and some pretty wild new adventures (Pizza Expo! the first-ever P.I.E. Conference! Our BIG oven), we’re feeling so grateful. Thank you for showing up, supporting our small women-owned business, and eating a LOT of pizza with us 💙 We learned a ton, met amazing people, and felt so much love from our local community.

Happy Friday! Meet Emily Kwak and Christina Cord of Pizzeria Coco in the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area.

Emily and Christina first met while working in the tech industry, never imagining that their shared path would eventually lead them to pizza. “I always knew I wanted to start my own business,” Christina says. “I loved studying business in college but ended up working in tech at a friend’s suggestion. Since we met, Emily and I talked for years about wanting to start a business together, but we could never quite decide what it would be. Pizza - or anything in the food world - was never even a thought.” For Emily, her first brush with the food industry came during a summer job at a golf course. “I grew up playing golf and even competed for years before transitioning into tech,” she says. “My first job was actually a mix of both worlds, I was flipping burgers and hot dogs and helping out wherever I was needed around the course. That job combined several things that I love: food, working with my hands, and being outside.” Entrepreneurship runs in Emily’s family. With her parents and several relatives who started their own businesses, she was naturally drawn to the idea of forging her own path.
