Honey bees commonly build their nests inside the hollow cells of concrete block walls. 🐝🔨 From the outside, it may look like the bees are simply entering a small crack, but inside they can occupy multiple block cavities with comb.

To access the colony while keeping repairs as simple as possible, I make a few strategic cuts so the section of block can be removed in one piece. The openings are only large enough for me to reach inside and carefully remove every piece of comb.

In this clip, you’ll see me pulling brood comb from inside the wall. That’s the part most people never get to see.

Once all of the bees and comb are removed, the job still isn’t finished. I mask the remaining colony scent and pheromone residues inside the cavity, then fill and seal it to help discourage future swarms or colonies from choosing the same location.

A proper live removal isn’t just about getting the bees out, it’s about solving the problem for the long term while giving the colony a chance to survive. 🍯🐝

Ever wonder what happens after the bees are vacuumed out during a live removal? 🐝

This is one of my favorite parts of the process. The EverythingBeeVac is designed with a ventilated top and bottom, along with wire mesh inside that gives the bees something to cling to during transport. That helps keep them cool and reduces stress on the colony.

Once we arrive at their new home, we gently pour the bees out in front of the hive entrance. Within minutes, you can watch thousands of bees begin marching inside to reunite with their queen and start settling into their new home. It’s always amazing to watch. 🍯

This shed was scheduled for demolition, but first we had one important job—give this colony a new home.

The reveal didn’t disappoint! Colonies love building between floor joists because they’re dry, protected, and often go unnoticed for years.

Why do we run 9 frames in a 10-frame honey super? 🍯🐝

Giving the bees a little extra space encourages them to draw the comb out farther. That creates thicker, more even comb, which makes uncapping faster, cleaner, and more efficient during harvest. It’s a small adjustment that saves time while still letting the bees do what they do best.

Some bee removals are more challenging than others, and this cabin was definitely one of them. 🐝🏡

The homeowner told us the colony had been living inside the ceiling for years. After calling around, they said several companies weren’t willing to open the ceiling to remove the hive properly.

At Synergy Farm, our goal is to remove the entire colony whenever possible—not just the bees you can see. That means removing the comb, brood, honey, and as many bees as possible to help prevent future issues like leaking honey, pests, and another swarm moving into the same cavity.

This removal required carefully opening the cabin ceiling to access the colony hidden above. Once all of the comb and bees were removed, I masked the bees’ pheromones to help discourage future swarms from being attracted to the same location, then filled the cavity space to eliminate the void where another colony could establish itself. Before wrapping up, I also cut out a small piece of fresh honeycomb so the homeowner could enjoy a taste of the honey their bees had been producing all these years.

It’s never fun cutting into someone’s home, but sometimes it’s the only way to solve the problem correctly and give the homeowner a long-lasting solution.

Every removal is different, and every structure presents its own challenges. I appreciate homeowners who trust me to take the time to do the job right.

🐝 Emergency Bee Removals in the Middle of Honey Season! 🍯

Mason’s been extracting honey nonstop, but on Sunday he had to take a quick break for some emergency bee removals.

This colony had moved into a water valve box and completely filled the cavity with bees. While it may seem like an unusual place, honey bees are always looking for protected spaces to call home, and utility boxes, meter cans, and irrigation boxes are some of the more common locations we find them.

After safely removing the colony, it was right back to the honey house to continue extracting.

The good news is we’re getting close to having fresh honey bottled and ready for sale! We can’t wait to share this season’s harvest with everyone.

2026 honey harvest is officially underway 🍯🐝

Going into this season, we honestly didn’t expect to pull much with how dry it’s been and the lack of consistent rain here in Central Florida. Surprisingly, the bees still managed to put together a better crop than we anticipated and we still have more honey left out in the yards to harvest.

Unfortunately, right in the middle of extraction our extractor decided it was done for the season 😅 so honey harvesting is temporarily on pause until we get things repaired and back up and running.

Still incredibly thankful for the bees, the harvest we were able to bring in, and everyone that supports our beekeeping business year after year. 2026 honey coming soon 🍯
