2026 honey harvest is officially underway 🍯🐝

Going into this season, we honestly didn’t expect to pull much with how dry it’s been and the lack of consistent rain here in Central Florida. Surprisingly, the bees still managed to put together a better crop than we anticipated and we still have more honey left out in the yards to harvest.

Unfortunately, right in the middle of extraction our extractor decided it was done for the season 😅 so honey harvesting is temporarily on pause until we get things repaired and back up and running.

Still incredibly thankful for the bees, the harvest we were able to bring in, and everyone that supports our beekeeping business year after year. 2026 honey coming soon 🍯

Honey season is in full swing! We’ll be pulling supers soon to start extracting and the Gallberry and Palmetto honey is tasting absolutely amazing this year. 🍯

Florida honey always has its own unique flavor depending on what the bees are working, and this crop is shaping up to be one of our favorites yet. Strong colonies, warm weather, and plenty of blooms have the bees staying busy from sunrise to sunset.

Nothing beats fresh raw honey straight from the hive. 🐝

Thought they’d move out… but they were just getting started 🐝

This removal was from underneath a prefab home where the bees had moved in sometime last fall. The homeowner was hoping they might leave on their own — but instead, they got comfortable, built comb, raised brood, and started storing honey.

By the time I got there, they were fully established underneath the house. I had to open up the stucco mesh skirt to gain access and properly remove the colony, including all comb and brood.

That’s the big thing — bees don’t usually just “move out” once they settle in. They build fast, and what starts as a small issue can turn into a much bigger one over time.

After removal, I cleaned out the cavity and took preventative steps to help keep future colonies from moving back in.

If you’re seeing bee activity around your home, it’s always better to address it early.

Views from the office never get old 🌴🐝

Today’s job took us out to a massive old live oak in Salt Springs inside the Ocala National Forest. These trees are incredible—but they can also become home to some pretty established colonies.

This one called for a forced abscond, where we safely removed and collected the bees for relocation without tearing into the tree. It’s always a balance between protecting the structure, the environment, and doing right by the bees.

After the bees were removed, we filled the cavity and sealed the entrance to prevent future colonies from moving back into the same spot.

If you’ve got bees in a tree, wall, or structure, don’t wait until it becomes a bigger issue. The sooner it’s handled, the cleaner and safer the outcome.

These bees found a tiny gap in a front porch and got to work fast. Within just a week, they had already started building comb inside the cavity and even had brood present.

We safely removed the colony and cleared all the comb. Not only is removing the comb important, but masking the pheromones and filling the cavity space before reassembling everything is what helps prevent future colonies from deciding to move in.

This is what spring buildup looks like in Florida 🌼🐝

When colonies get strong enough, they naturally want to reproduce by swarming. Instead of letting that happen, we make controlled splits — dividing one hive into multiple colonies.

This helps:
✔ Prevent swarms
✔ Increase colony numbers
✔ Maintain strong genetics
✔ Set up for the honey flow

It’s a lot of work this time of year, but it pays off🔥.

With incoming resources, our colonies are beginning to brood up and build strength 🐝
Once this cold front passes, we’ll be adding an extra box to give them room to expand and to prepare for splits.
Spring buildup is officially underway 🌼
