Trailblazer needed! Launch our new seedling adventure as the greenhouse manager. We need independent, out-of-the-box problem solver who appreciates fresh air.

Full Job Description: The grower position will have control and management over the greenhouses at Drakes Crossing Nursery. Oversee the production of conifer seedlings grown from seed into a plug. Produce high-quality native plants to use for seed production. The position will be onsite full-time to make sure plant health and production are moving forward. Other nursery team members provide support to this position.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Communicate daily and weekly goals with the nursery team
• Responsible for all aspects of growing plants, including seeding, transplanting, watering, spraying, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting, pest control, etc.
• Assist in training and overseeing seasonal employees in the above tasks
• Maintain a record of job activities and create process manuals
• Perform facilities housekeeping and sanitation
• Report facilities and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor
• Other duties as directed by Drakes Crossing Nursery staff
Minimum Qualifications:
• Attention to detail
• Strong desire to grow plants and work in a greenhouse setting
• Willing to commute daily or relocate to Silverton, OR
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and possess basic computer skills
• Work independently or with a team and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
• Work in varying conditions including heat, cold, high humidity, and light rain
• Availability to work weekends, when season requires
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, and reach to perform duties
• Current or will obtain a pesticide applicator’s license
• Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Horticulture, Biology, Natural Resources or related field or 2 years’ experience in a greenhouse or nursery setting
• English/Spanish bilingual skills
• Knowledge of greenhouse and greenhouse equipment
