It’s been one of those weeks in the rabbit world, and I’m here to say a few things.

I have about 10 years of experience under my belt, and honestly, these last few years have turned into everything I hoped the rabbit world would never become.

I’ve come across some of the most money-hungry, “I’m better than you” and “I know everything” people. People who will tell you whatever they need to tell you just to make a sale on an overpriced rabbit.

And truthfully, it has made me want to walk away more times than I can count.

But then it made me realize something…

It’s okay not to be like those people.

There may not be as many of us who genuinely put the rabbits first anymore, but the rabbit world needs those of us who do.

Not everyone has an air-conditioned bunny barn.
Not everyone has $500 to spend on a rabbit.
Not everyone is starting with the best bloodlines, the fanciest setup, or years of experience.

And that’s okay.

We all start somewhere. We all make mistakes. We all have things to learn.

But if you’ve made it to the top and your response is to kick everyone else off the ladder instead of reaching back and helping someone climb it…

Shame on you.

Educate yourself.
Learn from your mistakes.
Keep growing.
Be honest about what you’re breeding, what you’re selling, and what your plans are.

Most importantly, put the rabbits first.

Because at the end of the day, this should be about the animals we claim to love—not egos, money, titles, or who thinks they’re better than everyone else.

It really is that simple. 🐰🤍

Why Resting Mats Are Important for Rabbits 🐰

Resting mats provide rabbits with a comfortable place to get off wire flooring and relax. While wire-bottom cages can be practical for sanitation, rabbits benefit from having a solid surface available.

Benefits of resting mats include:

• Helps prevent sore hocks by reducing constant pressure on their feet.

• Provides comfort by giving rabbits a softer place to sit, stretch, and sleep.

• Allows natural resting positions that can be uncomfortable on wire flooring.

• Protects their feet, especially in breeds with less fur on their feet or heavier-bodied rabbits.

• Provides temperature relief depending on the mat material—some mats can offer insulation from cold surfaces.

• Easy to clean and sanitize when using rabbit-safe plastic or rubber mats designed for cages.

Important reminder:

Resting mats should be regularly cleaned and inspected. If a rabbit excessively chews the mat or if it becomes damaged, it should be removed and replaced to prevent ingestion of unsafe materials.

A comfortable rabbit is a happier rabbit—and good husbandry starts with giving them options for how and where they rest. 🐇💛
