I created this set with the birthday girl herself in mind—bright, fun, sweet, and free-spirited…just like Jodi. 🌈✨

Because sometimes the cookies should feel as much like the person being celebrated as the celebration itself. 💗

Well… apparently (pan) size matters. 😂😉

New recipe + cute new baking dish+ batter that had absolutely no respect for boundaries = CARROT COFFEE CAKE OVERFLOW.

She may have escaped the pan, but honestly? Look at that crunchy, caramelized edge situation. I’m calling it intentional rusticity.

Because around here, we don’t always get it right on the first try.
We learn. We adjust. We eat the evidence. 🥕☕️

And yes, I will absolutely be making this again—with a larger pan. 😏

🍏🍎. Added bonus, we had time to round out the first weekend of fall with another fall favorite; apple crisp.
🍏🍎. I use Honeycrisp and Granny Smith in mine-how about you? What are your go to apples in baking?

Week One back in Wisconsin has been fast and furious but I did manage to sneak in a little time in the kitchen.

🍏🍎These apple pie bars have such a great mix of textures: the snap of the buttery shortbread crust, the luscious apple pie filling and crunchy streusel topping-mmmmm mmmm good! (And that homemade salted caramel sauce drizzled on top? It’s the stuff dreams are made of!).

I’m a firm believer that all birthdays are special… but then there’s super special: 100! 🎉💯

I’m always honored when my cookies get to be part of someone’s celebrations, but getting to create cookies for a centenarian? That’s a pretty incredible one to add to the baking books. ❤️ (even more incredible; this is the second 100th birthday celebration I’ve had the honor of baking for 😎🎉)

100 years of stories, memories, laughter, love, and life — and a little sugar to help celebrate it all! 🍪✨
