A legacy written in hoofprints.

In 1973, The Pattersons brought their elite string of Polish Arabian horses west to Sisters, beginning a remarkable new chapter for what we now know as Pole Creek Ranch.

Their vision was to build a breeding program centered on the beauty, athleticism, and refinement of pure Polish bloodlines: “to breed beautiful Polish horses that sold themselves without words.”

And they did just that.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the Patterson Ranch became a destination for Arabian horse enthusiasts from around the world. Buyers traveled to Central Oregon to see exceptional mares and stallions, including championship-caliber horses like Cytrys, and to experience a breeding program that helped elevate Polish Arabians on a global stage.

The image of elegant horses moving through green pastures beneath the Cascade peaks became iconic — a true picture of the Arabian horse at its finest.

The Pattersons’ vision remains an important chapter in the history of Pole Creek Ranch.

One of the best parts of staying at Pole Creek Ranch isn't on an itinerary.

It's wandering the property, taking the long way back, and finding our horses beneath the towering ponderosa pines; curious enough to stop what they're doing and see who's walking by.
