Main Farms is a 16,000-acre farm in mid-Michigan that grows potatoes, corn, wheat, soybeans, peas, green beans, hay and oats using the most up-to-date farming methods. We grow food efficiently and responsibly.

This roller crimper seamlessly crimps and flattens cover crops and prepares the soil for the next planting season without disturbing the soil structure with a tillage tool. In addition to preserving soil health, it also enhances moisture retention and reduces erosion.

Thirty years. That's a pretty good run.

Frito-Lay recently sent Main Farms this sign to celebrate 30 years of partnership.

We’re proud of the potatoes we grow and the relationships we’ve built along the way. We’re especially thankful for a partnership that has lasted three decades — and is still going strong.

Here is an aerial view of the Main Farms shipping facility in Greenville, where we have the capacity to store 70 million pounds of potatoes, not quite half of our annual harvest. This is the former Ore-Ida processing plant that closed down in 1987.

Here is a set of two windrowers in action. Each windrower digs six rows of potatoes and then places them in the path of the harvester, which picks up all those potatoes while also harvesting four rows of its own.

The Main Farms team has three teams of harvesters and windrowers in action as we are working to harvest 160 million pounds of potatoes this fall.

Main Farms utilizes the latest and best practices to farm efficiently and responsibly.

One example: Main Farms tests petioles, a portion of the leaf on a potato plant, to see how they are faring nutritionally.. That allows us to know exactly how much fertilizer they need, which prevents overfertilization.

The Main Farms team has been harvesting potatoes and shipping them directly to potato chip plants for more than a month now. We just recently started putting potatoes into storage.

These are the first potatoes going into a 300-feet long storage bin in Greenville. We will store more than 100 million pounds of potatoes to be shipped to potato chip plants through late spring.

The Main Farms team is working hard indoors this summer to prepare for some field work in the fall. Here is one of our three combines having some maintenance work performed on it in preparation for the corn harvest. We grew about 7,000 acres — more than 10 square miles — of corn this year.
