www.upstatefoodcoop.com Co-op pricing is different than a conventional health food store.

We are a member-owned volunteer organization that incorporated as Share Food Co-op in 1978 and reincorporated as Upstate Food Co-op in 2003 for the purpose of providing natural and organic food to its members. We keep our shelves stocked with commonly used bulk items, beverages, produce, prepackaged products, refrigerated and frozen products, as well as culinary and medicinal herbs and supplements

. Items are priced at wholesale plus shipping and at the register mark-ups are added according to membership status, as well as the state sales tax.

We received organic mango melons this week. From the article link below: “The young melons can be used just like cucumbers for pickling or relish. They won’t have as much scent yet, and make an excellent young cucumber substitute for bread and butter pickles or good old fashioned dill pickles. They must be peeled to remove the rind before pickling.

Gardeners who are experienced with growing and eating these tell us the real flavors only come through when cooking or preparing them and not fresh use. One gardener described them as “mediocre” when fresh, but as “superstars” when used with apples, peaches, pears or cantaloupe in jams.”
