July's Featured Member: Lisa of LMM Photography!!

Lisa is a photographer, realizing the need for beauty in this world.
Sharing beauty to bring hope, truth, and justice!
Lisa lives year-round in Skagway with her husband, two daughters, and a sense of adventure.

LMM Photography offers a wide variety of photographic art. Metal prints, wood prints, framed prints, matted prints, and
cards.

If you've been shopping around town, you've certainly seen LMM displays! They can be found at Glacial Coffeehouse, A Fine Line, Skagway News Depot, The Sittin' Sasquatch, and more! Lisa is a regular fixture at the Garden City Market throughout the summer, as well as Skagway Arts Council events and other summer occasions. You'll also find Lisa manning a booth at winter markets at the Elks and Skagway School!

June's Featured Member is one of our newest vendors: The Skagway Garden!! Not only is this new addition an incredible historical and cultural resource from The Skagway Traditional Council, but it also gives Skagwegians another place to get our caffeine fix. The Skagway Cultural Garden also proudly feature many other Made in Skagway members, including the work of Skagway Alutiiq (Jaime Bricker) and Donna Griffard, and live weaving demonstrations from Annemarie Hasskamp!

The Cultural Garden is a charming and peaceful park that offers a quiet retreat to connect with Alaska Native culture and history. This small but meaningful space is perfect for a self-guided stroll, where you can explore beautiful Sculptures by talented artists, learn about the Tribe’s history, and reflect on the traditions that shape this vibrant community. The park is a place to slow down, take in the art, and appreciate the connection between culture, ceremony, and mental well-being. Whether you're here for a moment of peace, to discover local artistry, or to learn about the Tribe’s rich history, the Cultural Garden offers a unique and personal experience. Enjoy this intimate setting and explore the stories and traditions that make this community so special.

The Cultural Garden is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Alaska Native culture through art, history, and community connection. They provide a space where residents and visitors can explore Alaska Native traditions, support local artists, and engage in meaningful cultural experiences that promote mental health and community resilience.

May's Featured MIS Member: Stephanie Ryan of Boreal Artworks & Aurora Yarns of Alaska!

Stephanie Ryan is a watercolor artist who loves the Northern community and environment that inspire her work!

Her colorful, stylized artwork highlights the wild and beautiful landscapes of Alaska and the North. Northern lights, Glacier Bay iceberg inlets, salmon runs and cozy cabins – Stephanie paints these as she sees them and loves that creating art from these experiences may connect others to these same places that have inspired her.

Stephanie and her husband have lived in the North for over 20 years and opened a small art gallery called Boreal Artworks in Skagway in 2020. They also own a small yarn business called Aurora Yarns of Alaska, where they continue to work at designing unique hand-dyed yarn colors inspired by their environment and Stephanie’s art.

She has created art for backpacks, yoga mats, wool scarves, book covers, as well as for friends and family as memories of important places, allowing her to share her art and the northern landscape in new forms! She hopes her paintings bring light and happiness to people, while also drawing attention and inspiration to conserve those places that need it most.

Make sure to visit their shop to say hi, peruse the art, and support local creators!

Happy Spring Skagway! We are kicking off the busy season by featuring one of our amazing members, and keep an eye on this page all summer long to see more of our local creators and get to know your neighbors!

April's Featured Made in Skagway Member is Haden Bricker of Bobbin Around Creations!!

Bobbin Around Creations is a craft business that specializes in sewing, alterations, and the creation of unique products. As an experienced seamstress with over 20 years of expertise, Haden offers intimate sewing classes and creates a variety of Alaskan and rock climbing-inspired goods using upcycled materials. From repairs and alterations to handmade items sold at local markets, Bobbin Around Creations is there for you.

Haden will also be leading workshops all summer long, starting with a "Sew Your Own Server Apron" workshop during SDC - Community Development Services Welcome to Shgagwei Orientation Week! The full event schedule is getting announced soon, but consider this a sneak peak for our MiS fans.
