At Magpie mini-farm stands you’ll find locally-grown garden starts in the spring, fresh produce and flowers grown with organic methods, throughout summer, and during the cold, dark months, there’s a migration to indoor creative endeavors and hand-crafted items inspired by the natural world. POP-UP farm stand later this afternoon (Saturday, August 22)
Corner of 12th & Main (or maybe inside the white tent in the yard, if rainy)
5:30 - 7pm-ish (or until sold-out)

Featuring:
🍒Last harvest of Sweet Cherries (mostly dark red, but we’ll also have a few mixed bags with yellow-blush)
🫛Sugar snap peas

Other fresh produce in very small quantities:

5:30-7pm (or until sold out)

Featuring sweet cherries!🍒
We’ll have both kinds of our sweet cherries (yellow blush and red).
And there will be other treats from the mini farm in smaller quantities: raspberries, beets, cucumbers, zucchini, sugar snap peas, and bouquets.

Sunday night update: last night of moth week. Judging from the last couple of nights, moth visitation has been best after complete darkness (around 11pm). I’ve added a few photos from previous nights below.

Magpie mini-farm will be celebrating Moth Week again this year, starting this Thursday evening at twilight (10pm-ish)! It looks like we may be the only registered public event in Alaska this year, so we hope to be able to contribute some moth sighting info for our region. We’ll have UV lights and sugaring attraction stations set up, and some infographics about moths. And as luck would have it, some favored garden flowers are currently in bloom at the mini farm for the nectar-seeking moths.

Everyone* is welcome to come learn about moths and how some help the mini farm, and to check out what moths might show up. (*young children should be accompanied by an adult, please no dogs or smoking inside the farm). Format is casual, and self-guided.

Very small pop up farm stand today, July 3rd (while we await our main fruit crops)

July 4th Bouquets (mixed assortment of peony, ranunculus, anemone, tulips, etc.)

Plus we’re trialing a new offering:
Remembrance Planters (designed for gravesites — a heavenly mix of silver, white, and blue flowers). Purchase just the planter or add caretaking (watering & deadheading until end of September). These could also be used for July 4th. We still have some separate red salvia plants if anyone is in need of bright red flowers.

Here’s our current inventory list, as requested. Please read instructions at bottom of list. There’s low stock on a lot of varieties, and we will be filling requests as we get them.

Hoping the process will be:
1) place plant requests to Magpie mini-farm directly through Facebook messenger
2) we’ll confirm receipt of requests, pull order & send an invoice
3) once invoice is paid, plants will be delivered asap starting Sunday at noon.

Update 2: Current inventory list has been posted on the Magpie mini-farm page.

Update: Thanks for commenting! It seems providing a list is the favored option, so we’ll be working on one tomorrow and will try post it tomorrow evening. Orders will be filled on Sunday in the order they are received. Closing comments on this post now, so we actually have some plants left to list.

Sneak peek at some of the new plants that’ll be ready this weekend. We are very excited that the Shooting stars & Gerbera Daisies (in 2 colors) are finally very close to blooming (these take extra long to grow from seed)! There will also be a few Scented- leaf (rose-scent) geraniums, delphiniums (magic fountain mix) in 2 pot sizes, assorted columbines, a couple of young fuchsias, serviceberry saplings, bleeding heart, sugar pie pumpkin starts, just to name a few.

It’s a very busy weekend…still trying to decide when to have a sale. Thinking about having a farm-stand type sale (like we’ve been doing) on Sunday? Or would it be more convenient to be able to place orders to be delivered if we created a list?

Thank you for the inquiries! Magpie will not be having a sale this weekend, but be sure to check out the other plant sales happening around town. We are taking a break from plant sales to deliver Higher Ground garden beds, and to finish business plantings.

There’s just a few veggie plants left from our previous sale, which can be available now (cucumbers, peppers, fennel, celery—if interested please message and we’ll figure out how to get them to you). We hope to have a small scattering of new offerings (hopefully Gerbera daisies, and some more perennials), in addition to some plants on clearance at our sale next weekend.
