Go Native Perennials Native plants for wildlife, land restoration, clean water and beauty. We are open annually between May 15 and October 15. We allow that by appointment only.

We are a working farm, not a retail location. We do have demonstration native plant gardens and meadows to see; and it's an opportunity to go over your landscaping needs and to choose your own field grown plants to take home. Call 240-626-5209.

Meet the Lobelias! Are you looking to add more fall color variety to your garden? Many of our native wildflowers that bloom this time of year are yellow or light purple (especially the goldenrods and asters), but the Lobelias offer a different pop of color for the fall landscape. Blooming August through October are Blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) and Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis). Both species like moist soil with cardinal flower preferring even higher moisture levels and being a great fit for wetlands or just a muddy patch in your yard. However, these plants can also be grown in average soil moisture as long as they are watered regularly when establishing.
Both plants prefer full sun but can also thrive in part shade environments.
The blue lobelia, normally a blue or lavender color, also occasionally occurs in a white-flowered form due to natural genetic variation, and we happen to have a few of those individuals available in our greenhouse!
