Holzman Acres

It has been a minute!
The Cluckin’ Coop got a bit of a face lift this weekend!
When we first purchased chickens, I had my eye on nesting boxes that were at my great uncle Charlie’s farm. I found them while adventuring through old barns 😍. At the time, our flock was not quite big enough for the number of boxes.

Fast forward to now, our flock had outgrown what we had for nesting boxes and the time had finally come that I could take on another project 🙃.

We brought these beauties home back in June and while the project was a long time comin’, it was well worth it! I finally finished the project this weekend & got them placed in their new home 🫶🏽

While refinishing, I had one goal • maintain their original appearance. I might be biased, but I think I knocked it clear outa the park 😍

🌾🐮✨ Big News from Holzman Acres! ✨🐤🌾

We’re so excited to share that {IvieJo’s Feedbunk} will be making its debut this weekend! 🎉

This new little addition has stemmed from the enjoyment that baking & sharing (the goods) with my family brings me. I’ve been told countless times that I need to start selling a few of my family favs. So with that, IvieJo’s Feedbunk will be the place where I can continue finding joy in baking & sharing with others. 🫶🏽

👉 Come be part of our very first day, help us celebrate, and see what’s in store for IvieJo’s Feedbunk. I have picked a few of my favorites and am so excited to share with you!

Tractor parked 🚜 • Apple picked 🍎

Kyle had been cutting the grass, however when I noticed I could no longer hear the tractor, I decided I’d check in…
Nothing like a fresh apple snack, right from the tree! 🌳

We were blessed with {four} well established apple trees when we moved here 🫶🏽 but thought ‘what is a few more’?! So we planted {two} more 🍎, {two} 🍐, and {two} 🍑!! We are finally (slowly) but surely beginning to see some fruit on those, too!! 💕

Farm life slows you down in the best ways • grass cutting can wait - a fresh apple cannot. 😆

☀️Happy first day of summer!! Hopefully we can enjoy more sunshine days in the near future.

It’s been fairly quiet around Holzman Acres • garden was planted🍅🫑🥒, a few 🐤Cluckin’ Coop outdoor run updates, a lot of weeds pulled🌱, some 🍞sourdough bread experiments, but the favorite • the 🍓strawberries are F I N A L L Y producing more than I am able to eat while I pick 😂.

When we moved here, I had to very carefully move the established patch 2 feet… and 3 years later, I think they’ve grown to love their ‘new’ home. Still a lot of learning happening with grooming/maintaining them but absolutely L O V I N G fresh berries. 🥰

Do we have any 🍓strawberry patch experts following us!? We will happily take any and all tips!

Any great recommendations for a homemade strawberry jam🍓!? (Yes - I think I almost have enough for some fresh jam!!)

We hope you had a wonderful day celebrating all the moms • human mom, dog mom, kitty mom, chicken mom, or soon to be mom • they deserve all the love for all they do 🫶🏽

🐔The Cluckin’ Coop got its annual spring cleaning… AND a real glow up 😍. New flooring & we decided to use sand instead of bedding inside the coop 👌🏽

Benefits?? Sand doesn’t hold moisture preventing mold & bacteria growth as well as reduce ammonia build up and dust control. It is easier to clean - treated similar to a kitty liter box. If well maintained, it’s longer lasting!

🐓The Cluckin’ Coop 🐓
est • 2022
March 12, 2022, our first set of 7 chicks came home. We began our journey with a mixed variety of breeds! With little to no background in the chicken world, this was a new adventure for all of us.🫠

Year two we decided we were ready to grow. On February 28, 2023, we found ourselves in a line of people waiting on chicks 🤯. This seemed nuts, but nonetheless an additional 12 chicks would be added to our coop. 🐥

Year three we decided we were content with The Cluckin’ Coop & just had goals of maintaining. ☺️

Year four, brings us to current time in which we decided it was time to grow a little bit 🤞🏽On March 1st, we brought home 12 little chicks. On March 12th, we brought another 12 little chicks home. Yup - we now have 24 new chicks on the block! 🐥🐥

We are grateful for our very own built in chick sitter, IvieJo. 🐶 Many hours have been spent watching her chicks 🐥 She prefers that they’re awake and active at all times. When they choose to rest 🤫, she is sure to let them know that is not unacceptable🐥🫡

We are thankful for all of our customers who keep returning for more eggs 🫶🏼 We estimate our egg stock to be in abundance before we know it • we would be honored to be your local egg dealer 🍳🥚

•The Hired Hand•
For those who know Mollie, know that IvieJo is her sidekick, helper, magnet, but most important the absolute light of her life ✨

For those who don’t know, this is IvieJo. The two came as a package deal when Kyle came along. Kyle met IvieJo after date number one & it is safe to say, IvieJo stole Kyle’s heart instantly. 💕

It is a very rare occurrence that IvieJo ever gets left out or left behind at home alone. From the day Mollie picked her up, she’s learned car rides are superior and waiting in the car is far better than staying home alone. 🙃

She wears many hats around 🌾Holzman Acres. Whether it be mom’s desk pet during the day 🖥️, supervisor while mom is doing landscaping 🌸, squirrel chaser 🐿️, or baby chick sitter 🐥 • IvieJo is up for it all.

Prepare to see an abundance of IvieJo because she is very involved and never left out of this scenic route journey of ours. 🫶🏼
