This week, we're highlighting summer intern, Rachel P., and the person who made the biggest impact on her summer. 🐷

Rachel recognized Mary W. as her Most Influential Person. While working together in farrowing, Rachel shared that Mary took the time to explain not only what she was doing, but why she was doing it. She also noticed the care Mary showed every day—not only for the pigs, but for the people around her, always willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed!!

Thank you, Mary, for taking the time to teach, support, and care for those around you. The way you invest in others makes a lasting impact 🤗

🐷 Neil Dierks Scholarship – For graduate students at land-grant universities pursuing studies that support the pork industry. Applications due December 18, 2026.

🐷 USPCE Swine Legacy Scholarship – Four $5,000 scholarships are available for undergraduate, graduate and professional-track students studying fields such as research, education and veterinary science. Applications due December 4, 2026.

Interested in building a career in the pork industry? There is scholarship money available to help you get there.

The National Pork Industry Foundation offers two scholarship opportunities for students pursuing swine-focused research, education, and veterinary careers.

The Neil Dierks Scholarship, honoring NPPC’s longtime former CEO, supports a graduate student pursuing swine-focused study. The USPCE Swine Legacy Scholarship, recognizing two decades of the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence, is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduates, graduate students, and veterinary science students pursuing research, education, or veterinary careers connected to the swine industry.

This week, we're highlighting summer intern, Lillian M., and the person who made the biggest impact on her summer.

Lillian recognized Stephanie F., who has been part of the Huiras Sow Farm team for eight years and works in the farrowing department, as her Most Influential Person. 🤗

As Lillian's mentor in the Day 1 rooms, Steph was a great communicator who always took the time to answer questions and made sure Lillian felt confident in her work. Lillian also shared that Steph lives out our value of Care every day—through the compassion she shows the animals she works with and the kindness she extends to everyone around her. "Steph is truly one of the nicest people I have ever worked with."

Thank you, Steph, for making others feel welcomed, supported, and confident. The care you show every day makes a lasting impact!! 💛

We had SO much fun at the Sleepy Eye Summerfest Parade! A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who came out and made the day so much fun, and to the Sleepy Eye community for always showing up and making it such a great time. ❤️
