It’s the time of year to find Spotted Beebalm to add to the pantry! Monarda punctata is a native plant that flowers in late summer. It is medicinal, but our most frequent use is as a culinary herb. It’s high in Thymol (you know, think about Thyme) so it has a very similar flavor! It’s also a wonderful native pollinator to add to your garden!

Made a new friend on the way to work this morning. I’ve always had a thing for owls and they always seem to find me. I called and he came and sat on this limb right above me and we conversed for a bit. Such beautiful birds!

LIONFISH.

Ugh it's beautiful. Flakey. Delicate. And so versatile. Shout-out to Cody at Southern Anchor Fresh Market for sending me home with these absolutely stunning filets to play with. I paired the lionfish with cucumber tomato salad. 99% of the ingredients in the bowl are LOCAL! Totally makes my heart happy.
