Mahoning Creek Farm

Mahoning Creek Farm MCF is a 5th generation family farm located in Smicksburg, PA (Cattle/Hogs/Sheep, Beef/Pork/Lamb)

We have been raising Duroc hogs for over 60 years and also raise Hampshire and crossbred pigs for show pigs and breeding stock. Along with the pigs, we raise Dorset and crossbred sheep and Angus cattle. Our guiding philosophy of raising livestock is combining the best genetics with solid management practices to create functional, productive animals for our customers.

It wouldn't be possible without good neighbors ❤️ Earlier this week, Larry and Karen helped us out by using their equipment to wrap some hay for us❤️ This took a field of hay that had some weeds and high moisture and turns it into some of the highest quality feed for our cows. The hay ferments, unlocking more nutrients, increasing palatability, and promoting our cows' gut health. Think of it like "cow kimchi"😂😋 A huge thanks to Larry and Karen for dropping everything to help out and turning a situation that was creating a problem into a resource ❤️

This lineup put in some work yesterday 💪 Dad trained Travis in mowing and tedding so they both were able to work in two different fields while I fixed fence and took care of other chores. Excited for the beautiful weather this weekend! Stop by the Farm Store today or tomorrow (Saturday) 2-5pm to pick up some freshly restocked ground beef or some high quality cuts for the grill! You can also find us at Indiana County Farmers' Market tomorrow from 9-noon. There's still time to pre-order at www.mahoningcreekfarm.com by 7pm tonight. We especially encourage this if you would like a large quantity of something like ground beef or specific cuts, since we do our best but we can only fit so much on the meat trailer.
