February is becoming my favorite month 🩷

Sorting heifers to bring them in for calving!

Heifers are first time calvers and sometimes need help calving. Since it's hard to know which ones will and when they will, we bring them into a set of corrals, so they can be easily monitored. Should any of them need assistance, they are right there where all the facilities are. They don't need to be brought in off the river which can add a lot of stress to the situation.

As we brought the cattle towards the corrals, we left back any pairs (cows that already have calves) and cows we didn't need. By the time we got to a good corner, we had a lot of sorting done. Two guys held the cows and helped peel off the heifers on the edges while two sorted out the heifers. Calm is slow & slow is quick.

Once we had the group we needed out, we headed them for the corrals. There were a few heavies, close to calving, so they should be dropping babies any day now!

We have our "range raised" beef ready for delivery! Did you know we sell quarters and halves direct-to-consumer? We offer delivery from Reno to Smith!

What makes our beef special? They are born on my family's operation and raised by us their entire lives from being born on the Nevada desert to the day we drive them to harvest. Here it is processed at a USDA Certified facility and the meat is in vacuum sealed packaging and labeled with the cut and weight.

Our beef is grass-fed and grain-finished for marbling and tenderness using naturally minded practices and never any added growth hormones.

Special Delivery Date - February 29th for Smith and Yerington

I have three 10lb "Como Boxes" and one "Wellness Box" that I am doing a special delivery date for this week. You can go to the website to claim yours and I'll drop it off to you Thursday!

The boxes come with a variety of cuts and are a great way to stock up while saving!
