C&C Ranch

C&C Ranch Family oriented Cow/Calf operation located in Cache Valley (Northern Utah & Southern Idaho). Our "mother" cows are purebred Herefords or Black baldies.

We strive to raise quality cows by improving health and genetics through selective AI breeding. Our ancestors (the Campbell and Christensen families) have raised cattle (both dairy and beef) for several generations. We pride ourselves in our care and devotion to raising quality animals. We continually improve our genetics through artificial insemination and purchases of quality genetics. Each spri

ng our cows are taken out to pasture with their calves and placed with a hand picked A.I. bred bull. In the fall calves are weaned using a low stress method. Replacement heifers for our herd are picked, and remaining calves are sold. Our calves have been sold as show steers, replacement heifers and herd bulls for breeding. Our Story

Ranching and animal husbandry is our true passion and interest. Our ancestors (the Campbell and Christensen families) have raised cattle (both dairy and beef) for many many generations. Ancestry on the Christensen side stemmed from Switzerland where cows were treated as well as any animal ever could have been treated. When the Gessel and Schiess families emigrated to the United States and to the Utah area the barns and corrals for the cattle were finished before their personal homes were. The practices and husbandry skills from those ancestors are still carried onward in our family to this day. These animals are just not just dollar bills walking around - they are our passion and we love what we do. Growing up it was always stated that “you feed the cows before you feed yourself” and if I was ever caught walking in the mangers with dirty boots I was always asked “would you like the cows to walk through your food with dirty feet?” Good animal husbandry is a family legacy. We are matching that legacy with using the best genetics we can afford to grow animals that are calm, productive, good looking, healthy, efficient and as high quality as we can.

We pride ourselves in our care and devotion to raising quality animals. Our "mother" cows are purebred Herefords or Black baldies. We continually improve our genetics through artificial insemination and purchases of quality genetics. Each spring our cows are bred to A.I. bulls based on individual traits (bull and cows are matched by studying strengths and weaknesses of each animal so we improve the offspring). After we A.I. breed the cows they are turned out to pasture with a very well bred bull to clean-up and breed any that didn’t settle from being A.I. bred. In the fall we wean our calves using low stress nose flaps so that we do not stress them and make them susceptible to diseases. After weaning the calves we pick out replacement heifers for our herd and remaining calves are sold. Our calves have been sold as show steers, replacement heifers and herd bulls for breeding.
