Cowley Pecan has added an additional Meyers Pecan Cracker. This one is setup with size 11 pockets which is the smallest pecan size and allows for better cracking quality on the small sized pecans. I look forward to what the cracker will allow us to do. Make sure you separate the sizes when picking up your pecans. They will process better if you do.

Last night's storm got me picking up sticks again. This is how you do it...
Got to say better than the trailer method.

Great weekend to spray weather was perfect at 6 am on Saturday and Sunday. Sprayed a tank out each day. Good now for 14 to 21 days according to what the weather does over that period of time.

Just a quick update from the orchard, the M126X Kubota tractor has done great. It runs both the 540 PTO 10 ft rotary cutter and the 1000 PTO Salvage Sprayer. What a difference that thing has made at the orchard.

I also found a very good deal on another Myers Cracker just like the ones in the picture. It is setup with 11 pockets which will crack the smallest pecans easily. We have always struggled with the very very small pecans and I hope the new machine will solve that problem once and for all

Also, still over two months out until harvest time starts but the pecans look good right now. If we could get a couple of rains over the next two months that would just seal the deal.

Have a wonderful August and hope to see you in mid November.

In the orchard yesterday, still like the look of the pecans. No Scab on pecans middle of July and in Mississippi.

Happy 4th of July. Time for a short update. It's still a long time until harvest and a lot can happen between now and then, but at this time the pecans are looking good. Also, I now have a, new to me, cab tractor to make spraying and orchard cleanup easier. I will go ahead and answer the first question everyone ask about the tractor - Yes the AC works great. Have a wonderful holiday.

Hope everyone is having a great Father's Day. I went out into the Pecan Orchard and found that one of my trees was hit by lightning recently. It is amazing how it ran the length of the tree. Glad I was not around when that happened...

For years my dad used a Salvage 5540 Air blast Sprayer to spray the pecan trees. (Not sure of the exact number of years). But last Saturday the pump on the sprayer started leaking and being the handyman that I am took the pump off to change out the seals. When I took the pump apart found that the impeller was completely wore down. Time for a new pump.

Just installed a Delavan Turbo 90 Pump as a direct replacement. Nothing but fun.

NOT..

I will add a video in comments..

Made the second spraying this weekend for Scab and Micronutrients adding some Zinc to the tank. While out spraying, I pulled up next to a few trees to find the start of pecans.
