Finished the clean Saturday, now time to start picking up the next batch. The Lockwood may be old, but setup correctly and running at the right RPM, it does a great job picking up. More videos in the comment section.

We had a family day cleaning and sizing Pecans. These pecans are some of the best pecans out of the orchard in a few years. With that said Cowley Pecan plans to open on Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st. This will include selling our Pecans plus cracking your pecans.

There is still a long way to go before anything is ready. We will not open until the first or second weekend in November but did get to shake and pickup some before the storm with the big green Lockwood this past Thursday and Friday. On Sunday after the storm, I used the red Savage to pickup the pecans that were blown off by the wind.

There will still be a lot to pickup over the next two weeks. It is good to have pecans this year.

Harvest time for us is getting closer. Spent the morning getting the little harvester ready. It will get to areas where the Lockwood has problems. I hope to be picking up pecans in two weeks. Needing some cold weather and a little rain.

We also got to remove a few of the Crows. They do carry off a lot of pecans.

I was in the orchard today and found a limb that had broken off the tree yesterday during the late afternoon wind. The limb was loaded with green pecans. I picked one and cut it open expecting to see a pecan inside that would be a little damage from the dry month. But I was pleasantly surprised, it looks filled out.

Cowley Pecan has added an additional Meyers Pecan Cracker. This one is setup with size 11 pockets which is the smallest pecan size and allows for better cracking quality on the small sized pecans. I look forward to what the cracker will allow us to do. Make sure you separate the sizes when picking up your pecans. They will process better if you do.

Great weekend to spray weather was perfect at 6 am on Saturday and Sunday. Sprayed a tank out each day. Good now for 14 to 21 days according to what the weather does over that period of time.
