A couple of the older growouts decided to give me a heart attack while I was cleaning out the silkie pen. It’s not uncommon for me to let the birds roam around when I’m home, I like to think they are helping with the ticks and everyone gets along. I don’t do certain breeding groups at the same time, for obvious reasons.. But anyway, her friend ran into a horse pasture and became super scared.. so three of them decided to take off. I walked up and down the creek, I heard crows being loud, and I was very, very worried they had been taken.. I came back up to the barn with little hope left, and the three of them were hiding under the deck. 😅 I was so relieved, but frustrated. This little one is one I’m very excited about seeing how she continues to mature and fill out, and I was devastated at the thought of losing her. & She’s looking at me like “what is wrong with you?” 😂
& A learning opportunity was had. 😅
There’s a lot I like about this girl, her comb is tight, her wings are tight (more so when she’s not hot lol), she has the cutest muffs that are in three points as they should be, her spotted legs look to be turning slate which is ideal, I think her eyes are heading towards the correct color as well. I have high hopes for her.
I’m very thankful I found them. ❤️
People make mistakes, as long as we learn from them is what matters. This is a perfect example of not shaming fellow chicken owners, who try their best. (Chicken people may know what drama I’m talking about) I am seeing cruelty to each other far too often lately. The chicken community has some amazing people in it who come together, help each other learn, and support those who need it.. let’s focus on that.
