A Slightly Different Winter’s Tale
Twas near the Winter Solstice when this tale did occur
Friends, neighbors and relatives had all gathered near
To celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza and more
Good food, great drink and fellowship was dear
Singing and dancing and presents galore
Sharing and talking and laughing out loud
The host to be sure was understandably proud
When disaster reared its ugly head
In a way no one had thought but now began to dread
The ice maker was done; it had done what it could
The coolers stood ready to do what they would
If only, if only someone had thought ahead
Cold drinks and safe food would last until bed
Midst the shocked faces and tears
Everyone realized the worst of their fears
When what to their amazement did come to the door
Chilly W***y the Penguin with the answers and more
In his flippers he held
Bagged ice that would meld
With the drinks to make them cold
And with the food it would help to stave off the mold
“Use all that you want!” he cried out loud
“Plenty we’ve got” of that he was proud
“Ready to serve you around the clock
And close by we are – just down the block”
He dropped off the ice and away he waddled
He had more to deliver before it became puddles
“To the Ice House!” he shouted as his sled flew away
“We’ve got to make more to save another day!”
A poet I'm not but the moral of this tale is clear, make sure you've got plenty of ice for your plans. We are close by in Lilburn and Snellville and are open 24 hours to help you make it through that unplanned ice oops.
