Chinook Farms Community Supported diversified farm. We raise and sell grass fed & finished beef in Snohomish, WA. We also rent land to other emerging farmers.

Chinook Farms is a 132 acre Community Supported certified organic farm located on Elliott Road south of Snohomish about 1.5 miles east of Highway 9, in the Cathcart area. We offer a 22 week farm-share program with two pick-up days at the farm (Wednesdays and Fridays). Chinook Farms grows a diversity of mixed vegetables for our farm-share produce boxes and for Farmer's Market. We grow organic wheat

and other small grains. We also raise grass fed beef and pastured poultry. There are a limited number of shares available so sign up early to reserve your fresh weekly produce box, and receive a price discount. Click on Join Farm-Share Program tab to sign up for a bounty of fresh, weekly vegetables and build a lasting relationship with your food provider. Farm-Share members have first priority of the grass-fed beef and pastured poultry. They also have opportunity to harvest herbs and flowers while visiting the farm. We are a certified organic farm and follow all guidelines that the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the National Organic Standard has designated for organic farming. Our organic certification guides our sustainable farming practices to limit external inputs, and work in harmony with the natural environment. Our mission is to develop and maintain a healthy food system through sustainable farming practices that benefits the local ecosystems, people, and economy. Our Community Supported Farm establishes a greater awareness of our interdependence among food, Earth’s resources, and the surrounding community.

Cascade PBS visited and recently to do a followup story on the floods of December. Ironically, it was filmed the day before our second major flood this year. The two worst floods we have experienced in the past 15 years have occurred this winter!

Flood Update:

Overnight the projections jumped from 15’ to 18+’. 3 more feet of water came as a shock when I got up this morning. We built berms of sawdust and hog fuel in the barns to give cows, calves and pigs some higher ground. As of 2 pm we have all gotten out of the farm by row boat using shovels 🪏 for oars as we lost the others in the last flood. We are back to high ground. We’ve done as much preparation as time allowed.

We are in the midst of another flood event. Thankfully far less water than the record floods last December. Here the bridge that was swept downstream in December is now fully weighted down with about 25,000 lbs of concrete blocks. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that the projections are accurate this time round and that it crests about the top of the bridge deck overnight.
