Goat Soap

Goat Soap 2 Docs making goat soap for fun and profit and to support the 'girls' who make the milk. These are luxury bars of goat milk and olive-oil soap.

Hand-made in small batches, soap can be sent by Priority Mail in sets of up to 14 bars for under $9 shipping. What do you get when you mix goats with a couple of lady docs (MD and PhD)? Lots of talk about genetics of goat breeding, cheese making and of course the chemistry of soap making. We are here to share our experience with our goats and maybe even sell some homemade goat soap. Wendy is a PhD

who got into breeding goats with her daughter Hazel http://witchhazeldairy.weebly.com/
Vera is an MD who fell into goats the wrong way and connected with Wendy and Hazel to learn about the right way to raise goats. Over time they started really enjoying learning all about the things you can do with goat milk. Cheese was the first project, but there is only so much cheese one can eat. Soap was the next step and that has grown into such a big project that they decided to sell the fruits of their labor. We will be putting up various soaps for sale along with other tidbits. Onto the adventure!!

WITCH HAZEL SOAPS (Jorge and I this time - WE MISS HAZEL!) will be making our first fall batches this weekend! WE have decided to let YOU folks pick what scents we might make! PLEASE mention in comments ON OUR SOAP PAGE - IT's The Goats' Fault! We also take suggestions for interesting combinations - for example, Jorge came up with our very popular 'SCCAmP' scent, where we accent Sandlewood and Amber with Clove, Cedar and Pine.

We are also going to be offering again (by request) half-and-half charcoal soaps - half the bar is activated charcoal and the other half, the scented soap. These also look kind of neat, because half the bar is black and the other half, some swirly color. In fact, anytime we make black swirls, we now use Charcoal rather than the black pigment, as the black-pigment really liked to adhere to soap scum in sinks. Charcoal doesn't have quite that same affinity in our hands.

What we currently have on hand ALREADY as well-cured soap:
Blueberry (Fragrance Oil)
Lemongrass (we will make more of this anyway) (Essential Oil)
Cinnamon Clove Confetti (Essential Oil + whatever soap is chopped into it)
Mint Confetti
SCCAmP: Sandlewood, Cedar, Clove, Amber and Pine (Fragrance Oils + Essential Oils)
Pumpkin Spice (Fragrance Oil)
Citrus Pine (very light scent) (Essential Oil)
Applejack Peel Confetti (Fragrance Oil + whatever soap is chopped into it)

POSSIBLE SCENTS:
Georgia Peach (Fragrance Oil)
Litsea Cubeba (I call this one 'Lemony Tree' for its lovely refreshing lemonish scent). (Essential Oil)
Cedarwood (this is awful by itself, but a lovely accent for pine and sandlewood soaps) (Essential Oil)
Cool Citrus Herb (Fragrance Oil)
Sweet Orange Oil (effervescent and light, but not super long-lasting). Our friends at Epic Fine Chocolates (link in comments below) use this in their amazing roasted Arizona pecan blends. (Essential Oil)
Pine Needle (Essential Oil)
Pine Scotch (maybe a little more 'woodsy' than Pine Needle)
Sandlewood and Amber (Fragrance Oil)
Clove Leaf (another great accent oil) (Essential Oil)
Yuza Cybilla - this is another indescribable citrusy-grapefruity fragrance. (Essential Oil)
Lavender (Essential Oil)
Bug Be Gone - Citronella esque (Fragrance Oil)
Sandlewood Rose (to me, this smells kind of like it almost has vanilla overtones) (Fragrance Oil)
Lavender Vanilla (Fragrance Oil)
Egyptian Dragon - I think Hazel once called this an 'Old Lady Scent', but my high school students usually really liked it. (Fragrance Oil)
Eucalyptus - I will make a batch of this if it's pre-ordered, but will use as an accent in other soaps by request) (Essential Oil)
Hot Apple Pie (Fragrance Oil)
Honeysuckle - this is really a nice floral scent (Essential Oil)
Hawaiian Plumera - REALLY nice floral scent. Wildly popular when we make it. (Fragrance Oil)
Tuberose - Floral (Fragrance Oil)
Rose Deluxe - Floral (Fragrance Oil)

As always, we invite you to 'Like' our Soap page that we share with fellow soap-maker and goat-fancier, Dr. Vera Bennett.
