Apple Season Update: Spent a little time at Lake Breeze Fruit Farms again this morning along Lake Ontario in Sodus, NY. They are now picking the “Autumn Crisp” variety of apples. These apples have been around nearly 20 years, a result of the breeding program at Cornell University. They are a cross between “Golden Delicious” and “Monroe” and are a favorite among apple lovers. The vitamin C allows them to resist oxidation/browning when cut. NYS grows apples on about 55,000 acres, producing 30 million bushels each year. Much of that acreage is here in the Finger Lakes Region and WNY.

Today was a bittersweet day; it was this guy's last day as a summertime helper. Elijah Durham has been helping us for the past 3 years during summer break and has been an absolute stud. We expect nothing short of greatness from this driven young man! Good luck Elijah.
