I have finished separating the root orders. These are the extras that I have left to sell. I will be bringing them to Soldotna Creek Park today from 4-5PM. Hey, Alaska peony lovers, the roots have finally arrived. I have 300 roots to separate to fill individual orders. That will take me a bit. My plan is to distribute the peninsula orders at Soldotna Creek Park tomorrow (Sat., 9/19), from 4:00-5:00PM. I will bring the Anchorage root orders to town on Sunday (9/20) and distribute them at the University Center (out from Saddlers) from 4:30-5:00. If you can’t meet at that time, you can pick them up at our farm next week (not Sunday) or at our Anchorage house. Look for our blue Toyota RAV with farm signs.
P.S. I will be bringing a few extra roots (pictured here). If you’re interested, they are $20 each. Limited quantities.

The field has been cut down and cleared away. It took a little longer than usual, due to Dan having a 4-wheeler accident. Several days ago the accelerator on his 4-wheeler got stuck and it proceeded to take off over the 14 raised beds, crashed through the berry enclosure and didn’t stop until it hit the berm. Dan was bucked off and cracked 3 ribs. He is ok, but very sore. Happily, a friend of ours came and helped us cut and clear the rest of the field.

Hey, Soldotna and Kenai, these beauties are headed your way. We ended up having twice as many stems as we thought - yippee! We will be at Northcountry Fair in Soldotna at 11:00. These are the last of our peonies, so come and get them before they’re gone.

This is the last week of our 4-week peony subscription. These were all delivered on Monday. Many thanks to my friend, Nancy for helping me put these together every Sunday night for the past month. We still have a lesser number of subscription deliveries each day this week and then we will be done for the season. 👩🏼‍🌾🌸😊

Sometimes people ask us why we deadhead (cut off) blooms that are still on the bushes. Here’s why. It is much easier to cut off a single bloom, then to pick up hundreds of petals when the bloom falls apart. Petals that land on leaves or even on the ground, can cause botrytis, which we try to avoid. Happily, thanks to our u-pick customers, most of our blooms were picked and enjoyed, so only a few rows had to be deadheaded this year.
