Help Support TGE: Adopt an Animal

Help Support TGE: Adopt an Animal Our farm animals are as much a part of our school as our family and human students. Our feed and vet bills continue to roll in. We need your help!

Our income has been dramatically decreased, but the animals have the same needs as before.

Our feature for the weekend is our Livestock Guardian Dog in training, Luna. She is a 1.5 year old Great Pyrenees, bred to keep a close eye on and protect her herd. Luna's herd includes the goats, chickens and children of TGE. She keeps a very close and subtle eye on all of her charges! She has come a long way in her training and we are very proud of her. Thank you, Smazik family for financially adopting our big pup.

This little fella is "Nubs". He is probably the sweetest little rooster we have ever known.
In the fall of 2018, Ms. Brydie got a message from a woman who's father was in Hospice care. He had a small flock of chickens and she was looking to find a happy home for them. Nubs and his twin bro Stubs were part of this small flock. We learned that the two little guys were found in the forest in the middle of winter by the man's son, their toes and tips of their combs frozen off, barely alive. They took them in and nursed them back to health and we are so glad they did. This world needs more souls like dear Nubs. Nubs especially connects with kids who are challenged with anxiety, ADHD and autism.
Nubs enjoys snuggling with kids in hammocks and baby carriers, warm baths and waddle massages. He is simply the best and we couldn't imagine TGE without this guy.

To say we are grateful and humbled by your support is an understatement. Team TGE comes from a long line of hard working, grass roots loving get it done and help your neighbors kind of folks. It isn't easy to ask for help. What we have realized, however, is that to ask for and receive help is the ultimate gift of love. Being on the receiving end of this generosity is such a comfort during a time where we can't feel your hugs, your physical presence, see your faces.
We were able to order flea/tick and worming medications for all of the dogs and cats this week because of your donations. This huge expense was something we always just paid without thinking much about it, but with the loss of income we just didn't have what we needed to keep our friends protected. What a relief to know they are covered and have what they need.
The animals miss their friends, I am certain. Luna and Ollie wait at the top of the driveway each day waiting for their friends to arrive. Sweetie/Skittles the cat seems to be always searching for something- I'm sure it's her ASP friends.
This week, we are organizing all of the donations and information. Next week, check your mail for your first letters from your adopted friends!
Thank you. We are so very grateful. Love, the whole TGE team

"Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack!"
That is duck for "Thank you, Moore family for sponsoring me!"
Meet "Cheese", the duck. On the left is her current photo, on the right, a photo of the day she came to live at TGE. The young friend holding her also gave her the name "Cheese", because she was the color of cheese of course. Cheese enjoys bathing in the kiddie pool, quacking loudly at Ms. Brydie (asking for a dance), dancing with Ms. Brydie (I'm serious), and laying an egg every other day. Cheese's favorite treats are fresh spinach leaves, cheese and quackers, with a side of garden slugs.

"Meow-meow thank you, Davis family for helping support me"! Love, Sweetie/Skittles the cat.
When the oldest Davis child is here at TGE, Sweetie can be found close by her. When our after school program is running, her name changes to "Skittles the Hiking Cat" as she traverses field, stream and woodlands to be near her friends.
Your donation will help cover cost of spring flea/tick and heart worm medications! Thank you!

A BIG TGE thank you to Anne McWilliams and her grandaughter, Leola for "adopting" Ollie! This is a picture of what Ollie looked like when we first moved to the farm, when he wasn't flying through the fields and forest that is!
Leo, Ollie says he can't WAIT to see you again and give you a big smooch on your cheek!
