Welcome to Week 7 of our Summer/Fall CSA.

It’s hard to believe, but this is our second-to-last week of the 2026 season! As we’ve reflected on the past several months, we’ve realized something important. The best parts of this season haven’t been the vegetables. The best part has been the people.

A farm is certainly built on healthy soil, sunshine, rain, and a tremendous amount of hard work—but it’s sustained by relationships.

This season, we’ve been incredibly blessed by an amazing team of farm volunteers. We simply couldn’t do this without Jeff, Katie, Quinn, and Kayla, who have spent countless hours weeding, harvesting, washing vegetables, packing CSA shares, and helping in countless ways behind the scenes. Their generosity, encouragement, and friendship have been one of the greatest gifts of this season.

We’re equally grateful for our CSA members. Thank you for choosing to invest in a local farm, for trusting us to grow food for your family, for trying new vegetables, sharing recipes, stopping to visit during pickup, and encouraging us throughout the season.

And this year, we’ve had the opportunity to build even more relationships through our weekly attendance at the Iowa City Farmers Market and our participation in the Solon Farmers Market. Every Saturday morning conversation, every returning customer, and every new face who stopped by our booth reminded us why we love this work. Those connections have made this season richer than we could have imagined.

The produce may have brought us together, but it’s the people who make this farm what it is.

In your box this week:
All-Star Lettuce
Country Mix Leafy Greens
Butter Lettuce
Radish Microgreens
Cilantro
Purple & White Onions
Slicing Tomatoes
Carrots
Purple Bell Pepper
Shish*to Peppers (don’t be intimidated! These are generally very mild and delicious roasted or blistered in a skillet.)
Potatoes
Turnips

As ever, THANK YOU for supporting us - the friends make the farm.

This week’s Flour Belly Bakery sourdough add-on is a taste of fall in every bite: Apple Pie Focaccia!

Katie’s naturally fermented sourdough focaccia is filled with cinnamon-spiced apples and just the right touch of sweetness, making it perfect for breakfast with a cup of coffee, an afternoon snack, or even warmed slightly and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

We hope this seasonal favorite brings a little extra coziness to your table as we begin settling into autumn. Enjoy!

Find Us at the Market This Weekend!

If you’re visiting us at the Iowa City Farmers Market this Saturday, be sure to stop by!

In addition to plenty of fresh veg, we’ll also have:

Our Stone Ground Gluten-Free Sandwich Bread — a hearty, wholesome sandwich loaf made with simple ingredients and baked right here on the farm by Beth.

Our Freeze-Dried Greens Powder — made from the same greens you have been enjoying all season, harvested at their peak and gently freeze-dried to preserve their nutrients. It’s an easy way to add vegetables to your day!

We love using it in:
> Smoothies
> Soups
> Savory breads and other baked goods
> Sauces, casseroles, and more

It’s one of our favorite ways to enjoy the harvest year-round.

See you tomorrow, Friends!

> 2 tablespoons olive oil
> Salt and pepper
> Italian seasoning or fresh herbs (optional)
> Grated Parmesan (optional)
