This is Lucas and Lewellen. Louis and Mike are more than two names on a label. These two come from families with decades of dirt under the fingernails, and a belief that wine is an important part of human history, and is still important today. Wine has been a part of our culture, bringing people together in times of joy, sadness, war, peace, celebration, feasting, and remembering. Wine is a common foundation for the best art, poetry, music. It makes romance, babies, dance parties, sunsets, holidays, weddings, and great Saturday nights. What you see here isn’t just a photo of Louis and Mike. It’s the steady hands behind every vintage, every harvest call, every personal risk, every decision that keeps a small, estate winery alive in a world that’s getting bigger, faster, more challenging, and far more corporate.
Family wineries like ours are becoming fewer. Not because the passion is gone, but because it’s really hard to do it this way profitably, to farm your own land, to hand pick every grape, to know your crews by name, to stand behind the bar and pour your own wine.
When you open a bottle from Lucas & Lewellen, you’re not just pouring a glass. You’re supporting vineyard workers, cellar crews, tasting room teams… real people whose livelihoods are tied to these vines and this place.
