Alright y’all, this one hits a little closer to home for us 🤎

For those who may not have heard, our Somerset FFA community recently experienced a devastating loss at their ag barn. Several students lost their show animals after dogs entered the barn and attacked their livestock. These were animals they had spent months raising, feeding, working with and preparing to show.

As farmers and livestock producers, our hearts immediately went out to these kids because unfortunately, we know this kind of loss firsthand. We’ve had stray dogs viciously attack our own meat birds and sheep just days before processing. It’s heartbreaking, discouraging and a financial loss. There’s really no sugarcoating that part of raising livestock.

These kids didn’t just lose a “project.” They lost animals they had poured countless hours, hard work and heart into—and their families invested right alongside them.

So we want to do what agricultural communities do when one of our own gets knocked down — WE SHOW UP. 🤎

🥩 We’re raffling a $150 Herd On The Street Farm-Raised Meat Box packed with premium steaks, ground beef, roast & sausage all raised by us right here on our farm.

We have an incredible community here in Somerset and so many supporters throughout San Antonio. Let’s show these kids just how a community really comes together.

We can’t undo what happened, but together, we can help get these kids back in the barn.

OUR TABLE JUST GOT A LITTLE BIGGER 🤎

Starting next week, Herd On The Street will officially accept SNAP/EBT at our Farm Store.

From the beginning, our goal has been about more than simply selling food. We’ve wanted to help build a stronger, closer-knit local food system—one where more of the food on our tables comes from farmers, ranchers, bakers, makers, and small businesses right here within our own community.

Whether you’ve supported us from day one, shop with us every week, drive out of your way to visit us, are walking through our doors for the very first time, or will now be able to use your SNAP/EBT benefits with us—EVERY SINGLE one of you is valued here.

To every customer who has shopped with us, shared our name, brought a friend, placed an order, or simply cheered our family farm on: THANK YOU. Your support is exactly what allows us to keep growing, creating more access, and finding new ways to serve the community. This next step doesn’t change who we are or who we serve—it simply gives us the opportunity to welcome more families to the table!

Because every dollar spent within a local food system has an impact. It supports our family farm. It supports the other local families and small businesses whose products fill our shelves. And it helps keep more of our food—and more of our dollars—closer to home.

Join us March 14th in the backyard of our Farm Store as we celebrate TWO YEARS of Herd On The Street serving our community 🐮 🌾

We’re bringing together an incredible lineup of local ranchers, farmers, producers, and makers—including familiar faces you know and love plus new small businesses coming in from the San Antonio area to share their craft with the Somerset community. This is your chance to meet the people behind the products you see in-store and connect directly with those growing, raising, and creating your food and goods.

We’ll also have two food vendors serving up some seriously good eats made with 100% Herd On The Street pasture-raised meats 🔥

This event is all about community, connection, and celebrating how far we’ve come—and we can’t wait to share it with you.
