Ferris Farms

Ferris Farms A fourth generation dairy and crop farm in Somerset, Michigan. Welcome to the farm! We milk around 150 cows and raise our bulls for beef.

We operate a fourth generation dairy and crop farm nestled in the rolling hills of Somerset, Michigan. The farm was originally started by Vincent Ferris in Cement City and was then moved to its current location in Somerset by his son, Stan Ferris and wife Dolores, in 1954. We grow 1,100 acres of corn, 1,100 acres of soybeans, 50 acres of wheat and 250 acres of alfalfa; 2/3 of that which we own and

1/3 is leased. Approximately 200 acres of the corn and all of our alfalfa goes to feed the cattle, which consists of 450 head. The farm is own and operated by Stan Ferris and his oldest son, Jay Ferris. They are accompanied by Stan's youngest son, Kel Ferris, and his two grandsons, Jayson Ferris and Rob Corona. Alongside the family, there are three hired hands that do the milking and chores. We hope this page provides insightful information on the daily life of a dairy and crop farmer!
