This contest was about more than producing a quality animal. Through the Ohio Beef Youth Council, Riley completed meat grading and beef industry education, learned how carcasses are evaluated, and participated in an interview discussing how she marketed her freezer beef directly to consumers.
In addition to earning Champion Heifer Carcass honors, Riley was awarded a cattle hide from the Ohio Beef Youth Council and received a scholarship sponsored by Korb Family Livestock and The Stockyards Packing Co.
Every step of this project—from the calf’s genetics and management to processing, education, and marketing—came together through the support of Ohio’s beef industry and local agriculture.
Every step happened right here in Butler County, Ohio, supporting local farms, local businesses, and local agriculture.
Eat Local. Buy Local. Support Small Business.
