Today’s nuisance plant is a local native. The Duckweed (Lemna spp). Duckweed can be highly problematic as it can reproduce rapidly and cover the surface of a pond. Duckweed has 3 small green floating leaves with a single root that hangs below. Key growth facts Duckweed can double itself every 24hrs and it’s the smallest flowering plant in the world.

Welcome the Black Bullhead to the picture. Something I despise seeing in a pond. In numbers they can cause turbidity in water from mud foraging. Black Bullhead have black whiskers, white belly, and normally a black to dark green body hue. They raid nest of sunfish and bass. Good thing we have a couple ways to help.
