I don't know if I've posted about Chief Noassitol but he's a rescue Polish rooster that I'm trying to convince to grow tail feathers. His previous flock cannibalized his entire back end. I'm not sure if it was due to being housed with 'normal' crestless chickens who tend to pick on Polish or since they only went for his tail it could've been the entire flock lacking protein and turning on the weakest link. Yay! Chickens! 🦖

I need to reinforce the chicken wire that came with this frame kit. It had been serving as a storage shed before turning into the coop. Luckily with the fence and dogs my predator pressure is low.

I love this visual, two rabbit loins, both 16 week old stock raised identically, the only difference is their genetics.
The rabbit on the left is the last of my tri project stock, where I was looking to get color and then work on type.
The rabbit on the right is from Reno, a buck I bought from show stock, actively focusing on Rex SOP.

Can you see the difference?
Nearly twice as much loin on the second rabbit!
You can feel these differences when evaluating rabbits in person, but it’s not something that translates to viewers until butcher time.

Buy the buck! Buy the best buck you can afford! Buy the buck from breeders who show and strive towards SOP. You’ll be thankful you did!

You cannot out feed poor genetics and it cost just as much to feed a janky rabbit as it does a quality one!

I gotta say barring heavy snow (not an issue where I am) the metal frames off Amazon have been the most versatile part of getting things up and running. This particular frame has been in several places around the yard serving as a Coturnix quail aviary, a very brief rabbit colony before we upgraded to cages, a broody duck hut, various runs for coops, a loofah trellis, and now it's being moved again to better utilize our space and shade. Unfortunately I had to cut the vines but that shouldn't be a problem with the hundreds of seeds we have saved. I'll be offering small pouches of them for sale at the local market & possibly shipping.
