232 cosponsors for the SAFE Act.
Momentum continues to build around the country, and across the globe, to protect the wild and domestic horses of the United States. We are so proud to be advancing this work through The Lost Horses campaign, and helping to create lasting change.
Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) has now cosponsored the legislation, joining 231 other Representatives, in addition to the billβs original sponsor and tireless champion for equines, Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL).
With the August recess lifting, the next few weeks are going to be crucial. Some key dates: The House returned on August 31st, and the Senate returns on September 14th. The current surface transportation authorization expires September 30th, with an extension through December 11th proposed, as Congress considers the larger transportation package.
WBF and our coalition partners successfully led the effort to advance core SAFE Act language out of committee as part of the bipartisan surface transportation bill, but we need this surge of support to continue as it awaits consideration by the full House.
