One month of this little guy. We have named him Naranjo Hills Nightingale (Gale). His dam’s name is Bluebird and we wanted to stick with the 🐦 theme. Nightingales are small birds in which the males are the ones that sing the melodic tunes 🎢. Plus, Gale was a character in the Hunger Games, where Mockingjays were fictional birds that symbolized rebellion. We saved all the other great name suggestions for future Birdie calves!

Not on the to-do list today! But homesteading is like that, plans are always changing. We had decided no chicks this year because we’re downsizing the flock. Went to feed the animals and noticed a lot of chirping and mother hen clucking, followed by a barn cat ready to pounce, and what do you know…13 chicks running around the pasture. 🐣πŸ₯
