2026 Rabbit Hole Entrepreneur applications are now OPEN!

Each year, we invite one entrepreneur to not only make their wine in the Obsidian cellar but to tap into the experience, passion, and experimental inspiration of our community of Rabbit Hole winemakers.

We launched the Rabbit Hole program in 2020 to create an incubator to support new voices, perspectives, and styles in wine. And to pay forward the support we continue to receive from the community of wine entrepreneurs.

A successful candidate will have their basic business licenses, winemaking permits, and insurance in place or in progress, and be able to articulate their unique vision and goals.

We are practical people, we don’t believe in luck, and we know nothing changes on New Year’s Day. But we do love shared experiences, and boy are we ready for 2026. And so we strongly support engaging in all the superstitions this year.

Eat the grapes, lentils, long noodles, and black-eyed peas. Wear red, wear white, wear polka dots. Hang onions by the door; walk around the house with an empty suitcase. Dump water out the window, and jump into the frigid sea.

And for goodness sake, DRINK THE WINE.

On New Year’s Eve, of course, and throughout January too.

Drink less, drink better, seek balance, seek connection. But before you abstain from cars, fries, alcohol, or any other activities that may kill you, consider that wine is an astonishing, complex beverage that springs from the earth, is crafted by humans, and plays an enjoyable role in leading a creative, social, and connected life. Which is the life we all hope to live in the year ahead, with any luck.

Wishing you a happy 2026 and raising a glass of Blanc de Blanc to each of you this New Year’s Eve.

Base Camp is magical at night, and now that it’s dark so early, we’re extending our hours on Fridays to invite you to experience it.

We’re shifting the vibe after 5pm. Music gets a little livelier, wine tastings give way to glass and bottle service, and the nature portal changes to a favorite movie.

This Friday, 11/21, we’re getting excited for ski season with our Avant Ski party from 6-8pm. We’ll play epic ski films on the wall, and are mulling up some glühwien to enjoy by the firepit. Thumb through our back issues of , score a new Obsidian beanie, and swap stories. See you tomorrow!

When we conceived of Obsidian Base Camp, we imagined an entirely new type of place to gather over a glass of wine. A place to meet people, to revel in some music and artistry, and to celebrate not only life but also a life well-lived.

On Friday, September 19th we are kicking off phase two of Base Camp. We’ll be “testing” our new state of the art sound system recently installed by Sonoma’s own Granko Inc. And launching a series of films and gatherings through the fall and beyond.

We’re putting to use our 20,000 lumen projector and 8’x14’ screening wall to pair our Pezsgő Sparkling Petite Sirah with a cinematography and musical masterpiece by that well-known British rock band that you may have spent your youth with. Bring an inflatable pig (if you’d like) and transport yourself back to 1979 for a few hours, with us.

Free to attend, wines available for purchase by the glass and bottle, complimentary popcorn.

There is a beautiful tree at the base of Obsidian Ridge Vineyard, an enormous live oak estimated to be between 600-800 years old, surrounded by others of its kind. Peter paid a visit yesterday, and brought home one of her acorns. Amazing to think one of these rooted in the Middle Ages to become the tree we visit today.

And away we go…kinda.

Today we received the first grapes of the 2025 harvest…Verdelho from the Alta Mesa AVA.

Native to the volcanic soils of Madeira and famously known for the bright volcanic white wines of the Azores, we are excited to work with this variety for the first time. It will become the third vintage in our series of Rabbit Hole white wines, following in the footsteps of our Virelangue Picpoul-Bourbelenc and Zarpada Torrontés.

Meanwhile closer to home grapes are still going through veraison, so we won’t see more fruit for several weeks. Today was a good practice run. Good thing is everything seems to still work.
