Raeburn Winery

Raeburn Winery Raeburn Wines are elegant, lush and balanced. Crafted from Sonoma County's finest vineyards. She was a true trailblazer.

Our winery, created by Derek Benham in 2014, is located in the scenic Russian River Valley. The wine is a special tribute to a lady near and dear to his heart, his mother Phyllis. Phyllis was a birdwatcher and naturalist in the Sierras, and instilled in her son a passion and respect for the California wilderness. Raeburn is the product of her and Derek’s lifetime indoctrination into nature. Our na

me traces its origins to Olde English, and translates to “the stream where one drinks.” As stewards of the land, our goal is to protect the thriving and wildly diverse watersheds of Sonoma County and beyond, which provide habitat for both grapes and creatures alike. We honor the egret on our label, as a nod to this beautiful place and this graceful bird that we see everyday along local waterways. Raeburn wines are crafted in a Certified California Sustainable Winery. Our system and set of beliefs reflect the best practices of sustainable production. We are proud to call Sonoma County our home, where mindful winemaking and low impact farming is paramount, and an entire industry has come together to push for 100% sustainable vineyards countywide by 2018. With Sonoma County as our inspiration, we run one of the most eco-friendly, water-efficient, solar-enabled facilities in the industry. Ripe, luscious and downright delicious, let Raeburn take you to the river to share a laugh with friends, enhance your favorite meal or just let the day fall away.

The pour is the moment everything comes to fruition. What started in the Russian River Valley, in the fog, the soil, and the slow season, ends up right here, in your hands.

Meet Colleen FitzGerald, Raeburn's winemaker.

Colleen came up through New Zealand, Paso Robles, and Napa before finding her footing in the Russian River Valley. She brings a biochemist's precision to the cellar and a quiet instinct for knowing when to step back and let the fruit speak.

When she's not in the vineyard, you'll find her hiking the Sonoma Coast with her family and their dog Huxley.

We're so glad she's here.

By the time everything hits the table, the light is already starting to change. Glasses are being poured, someone is finishing up in the kitchen, and no one is too concerned about timing.

This time of day, things slow down on their own.

The river runs just beyond the vineyard, steady and consistent. That same pace carries through the season, shaping the fruit from the vines of Dow, Duvander, Ricioli, and Slusser.

Our High Flier Chardonnay holds that rhythm. There’s depth here, and a richness that comes from taking the long way. Cool mornings, unhurried ripening, hands that know when to step back.

It’s a quiet through-line from the river to the glass in front of you. One you may not think about, but it’s there from the start.

Not a special night. Just a good one. That’s the whole point.

We tend to notice the egret on quieter mornings.

It usually keeps its distance, but it shows up in the same areas again and again. Shallow water, steady ground, nothing out of balance.

It's one of those things you learn to look for over time.

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir need a longer growing season to reach their stride.

The Russian River Valley naturally gives them that. Fog rolls in and holds through the morning, keeping temperatures down and slowing ripening.

That slower pace helps retain acidity while building structure, which is what gives both varietals their balance.
