Hard to believe that harvest is right around the corner. This year has really been a whirlwind but the vineyard perseveres and the fruit looks close to perfect
And on the topic of vineyards, we are really excited to include Judge Vineyard in our program this year. Bennet Valley has long been one of our favorite sources of fruit in California, and Judge is unquestionably the best Grenache vineyard in the region, if not the entire state.
We feel really fortunate to be working with Joe and Gail Judge, and we know the wines are going to be absolutely awesome

Another great vintage in the bottle

The first of our 2017 red bottlings. The name is inspired by the fires of 2017. The winery was completely covered in Ash, as if 100 years of dust had accumulated over night. Even though the fires were within 1 mile of the winery, we never lost power. It was an experience I hope to never relive

Our 2018's put the bed. The yields were very low but the quality is exceptionally high. The rose screams of grapefruit, tangerine and lilac. The three noir's are each very different even though two of the vineyards are within a stones throw of each other in Bennett Valley. The third vineyard is in El Dorado and rests at 3,200 feet. The mountain fruit really shows and it is clearly the bigger of the 3 red's.

Visit to the Two Sisters vineyard block yesterday, which is a stones throw from the Foggy Knoll block we have been using for the past three years. As luck would have it, a few rows in Two Sisters became available so we walked over to check it out. The fruit looks great and will most likely be added to our 2018 Bennett Valley Grenache. Two of the pictures show opposing views of Bennett Valley from the ridge, giving you a perspective of the tiny area occupied by this AVA

4 tons of El Dorado Hills grenache from the La Colina vinyard. Still some traces of dry ice used to keep the fruit cool on the journey to Sonoma. It all looks great and has huge potential. Looking forward to the transformation into a finished wine
