Tasting the 2025 Estate Sylvaner & Riesling with Andrew, included in the SVS Spring Allocation.

These wines are a contemporary homage to the Scribe Estate’s pre-prohibition era — and to Emil Dresel, who brought the first cuttings of these native German varietals to California in 1858 and planted them here on the slopes of Arrowhead Mountain.

Our obsession and experimentations with Pinot Noir culminate in our Estate bottling, capturing the Estate’s distinctive terroir: cool salty breezes, bright afternoon sun, and volcanic ash-laden soil.

This wine captures the brighter and more vivid characters of this delicate varietal while maintaining power and texture. Handled gently in the cellar with native yeast fermentation, aged in neutral oak, and bottled unfiltered – the Estate Pinot Noir is a wine uniquely connected to time and place.
