Coincidentally, Labor Day coincides with our Vietnamese Independence Day! While it typically signals the grape harvest is in full swing in California, here in HoiAn it’s the rice harvest that fills the streets and alleyways to dry! Spectacular in both ways, the real party kicks in tonight at the Opal Moon Bistro! Breakfast at the beach was a great way to start the Day!

Roger Roessler Wines is a family owned winery with a 24 year history of producing Premim Quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay! We are currently seeking a tasting room professional for our space just off the plaza in Sonoma!

The job responsibilities include staffing our tasting room Thursday thru Saturday from 11:30 to 5 pm. We will expect you to present our wines in a professional manner, handle the POS system including opening and closing duties, coordinate our inventory control with our admin staff and be willing to assist in warehouse activity to supply the tasting room.

We currently have two wine clubs which are active and growing. The position requires fulfillment and club member communication as needed. Compensation is commensurate with your previous experience and willingness to be a part of our team.

Advice on how to live a long life…

The NYTimes did a great article on a woman who lives north of us in Mendocino County-Ms. Edith Ceccarelli. Born in February 1908, she’s the 2nd oldest person in the world having just turned 116!

At 100 years she invited the town of Willits to celebrate her birthday.

From then on, Ms. Ceccarelli’s birthday each year has been marked by a party, a lunch or, in the Covid era, a parade, open to all Willits residents. Often wearing a colorful scarf and pearls, she would pass on her wisdom on how to live a long life: “Have a couple of fingers of red wine with your dinner, and mind your own business.”

When the nation’s oldest person has a birthday, a California community makes sure to celebrate.
