We're delighted to announce that Patz & Hall has been named one of the North Bay's Best Places to Work by the North Bay Business Journal in our first year of eligibility as a newly independent winery.

Based on confidential surveys from our own employees, this selection reflects the hard work done to reestablish Patz & Hall as an independent house following James Hall's repurchase of the winery in 2024. Now with partial employee ownership in place and two successive years of placement on the Wine Spectator Top 100 list, the future looks brighter than ever. We hope the commitment shows in each bottle of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and bubbles you enjoy. Cheers!

So we're really doing this! Harvest in July.

Early this morning we brought in Chardonnay from the Martinelli family's Zio Tony Ranch in the Russian River Valley for our sparkling wines. By 10am, the grapes had been delivered to the winery, duly blessed, and sent on their merry way to becoming the 2026 vintage.

Happy harvest all! Stay safe out there.

We’re grateful to Martha Stewart and Friends of John Jay Homestead for having us pour at “On the Farm,” a celebration of America’s 250th and a benefit for the preservation of John Jay Homestead. John Jay was a jurist, diplomat, and Founding Father. But he was also a dedicated farmer, which is a title we’ll happily raise a glass of Dutton Ranch Chardonnay to this holiday week!

Our winemaking team recently paid a visit to the fine folks down at Pisoni Family Vineyards to check in on how the growing season is treating them. The bottom line: 3 weeks ahead of the average season, but there's still time for that to change.

It's a rare day when you get to taste a wine right where it's grown, like our Hospitality team did up on Bootlegger's Hill last week. Even rarer to do it on a (ahem) vintage D6 Cat.

To all who celebrate...Happy International Chardonnay Day.

Every Thursday before Memorial Day, we're as happy as Santa's elves on Christmas. We hope you'll join us in raising a glass to the incredible vineyards we feel lucky to source Chardonnay from. From Hyde to Kent Ritchie to Bootlegger's Hill to Soberanes to Dutton Ranch to Zio Tony, here's to you.

Worth the drive from Monterey County! Collecting the annual allocation of Patz & Hall wines named for their vineyards, and often for the growers themselves, is just one highlight from our annual Growers Luncheon.

Yesterday, we welcomed our winegrowing partners to our winery to taste our bottled 2024s and in-barrel 2025s, discuss how we see the wine industry evolving, and enjoy a great lunch (and some great bottles) together.

Our Director of Winemaking James McCeney and Founder and Owner James Hall led a conversation about what these extraordinary sites give us and how that informs our winemaking, while the growers shared their unique perspectives on what it takes to grow the best fruit possible.

The Growers Luncheon is one of the days we look forward to most throughout the year. And yes, they got their wine!

Our team had a great time volunteering at the Redwood Empire Food Bank! It was a privilege to play a small part in helping alleviate hunger across Sonoma County and the wider North Coast.

(Plus, our years of practice at the winery sorting table during harvest meant that the sweet potatoes never stood a chance.)
