Dogs are welcome on The Oak Knoll and in the tasting room (leashes required). And if you're bringing the kids along, just grab a bottle or a To-Go Tasting from the tasting room and picnic anywhere on the grounds!

Some things at Bartholomew don't happen often. 🌳

Nathan walks us over to the ancient bunya bunya tree on the property: a prehistoric species native to Australia, considered a "living fossil."

It produces massive seed pods that drop only once every 2-5 years, and they can weigh several pounds each!

Yes, that's the seed in his hands. No, you don't want one falling on you (but don't worry, we've made sure they've all been harvested!)

It's not a tree most people expect to find in Sonoma. But that's part of what makes 375 acres of preserved land so special... every corner has a story.

Our deer friends have been a little too enthusiastic about the vines this season. 🦌🍇

So we're getting creative. Winemaker Kevin Holt walks us through our solution: kaolin clay — a natural, non-toxic mineral coating that makes the vines a less appealing snack for hungry deer. It also helps protect the vines from sun damage and certain pests as a bonus.

This is what sustainable farming looks like — working with the land and the ecosystem to protect both.
