As we continue moving from cleanup to rebuilding in Sonora, we wanted to share a quick update.
The Ministerial Alliance is still housing people in motels who were affected by flooding. Currently have around thirty people still displaced.
We had approximately 140 homes flooded, which I think is around 10% of our community.
We’re waiting to ensure homes have dried out enough before new sheetrock can be installed, but many homeowners are beginning to reach the rebuilding stage. After doing some preliminary estimates, we’ve found that it will cost approximately $200 per home to replace the sheetrock that had to be removed because of water damage.
The Ministerial Alliance is leading these rebuilding efforts, but because they are not set up with a website or online payment system, the Sutton County Game Dinner Association is partnering with them to help collect donations through our website.
Here’s how it will work:
* Donations made through the Sutton County Game Dinner website will be designated specifically for flood rebuilding.
* Sutton County Game Dinner will then present the Ministerial Alliance with one check that includes 100% of the donations, along with an additional donation from Sutton County Game Dinner to support the rebuilding effort.
* If donations exceed the current sheetrock needs, every remaining dollar will stay with the Ministerial Alliance to help meet future rebuilding needs for flood-affected families.
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming generosity, prayers, and countless volunteers who have stepped up to help our community. Your continued support is making a real difference as Sonora begins to rebuild, one home at a time.
Thank you for loving our community so well. ❤️
Every house is different but on average it is going to be about $200 in sheetrock (per house) to replace the old. This money will go to the Sonora Ministerial Alliance and they will purchase Sheetrock for those that were affected by the flood. If we happen to sell more "houses" than we have needs fo...
