Let's talk about things that scare you the MOST with your livestock. I'm not talking about your fears either, I'm talking about what genuinely demands you to say a prayer before doing it and put your big girl/big boy pants on in the moment.

I'll go first! My pregnant rex doe Sequoia is what scares me. She charged at my hand like 4 times today. I'm pretty sure I saw what appeared to be Satan in her pupils at one point. Lord help me get through these next 2 weeks with her! I'm about to perform an exorcism on her if she continues! 😭

So what does your livestock do that makes you p*e your pants a little bit when dealing with them? Do tell! Bonus points if you share a photo or video clip. 👀

So right outside of my rabbitry the other day, I started pulling weeds and realized some magical little friends sprouting beneath them. I am 99% sure that these are giant puffball mushrooms starting to grow!

Since I'm not entirely sure though, I thought we could figure it out together. Are these giant puffballs growing on my property? Or are they something else? I caged them off so my kids wouldn't trample them, I'll post updates on them and we shall see! If they are I am sooo going to make a puffball pizza crust with them. I am SO EXCITED.

Happy Tuesday! And welcome to my page if you're a newbie. I'm Chelsi and I raise meat rabbits somewhere tucked away in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. 🌲🏔️

My husband and I are actually expanding our homestead as we speak! It's time to tackle the literal forest that is our yard and slap some critters and things on it. Does anybody have any recommendations for what we should add to our land? We have a half acre if that helps. But honestly I think it's a *little* bigger than that because everything with this property was measured incorrectly lol. Let me know though if you have any recs! I have raised chickens here before and I'm already thinking about going that route next. But I want to add at least one more thing besides a garden and adding more fruit trees.

So what do you have, that you think would be great for a simple but fully functional homestead? I'm all ears!

Still obsessing over these flowers my sweet friend got me for Mother's Day btw. They go so well with my whimsical cottagecore kitchen.

Holy guacamole man, life got SO busy I have continuously been neglecting to update my page! That's my bad. 💀

We have a few new updates though for Jackalope Meadows! Today we brought home 4 new beautiful babies and expanded the rabbitry! A broken amber Rex doe (Maple), two REW Rex bucks (Alabaster and Quartz) and an American Chinchilla doe (Chia). All pedigreed and as cute as can be. No seriously, I'm obsessed with all of these cuties already and I cannot wait to see them grow out and produce future litters. 🙌🏼

Well that's it for now, I just wanted to throw it out there that I haven't been on here for a hot minute because of the holidays and that I swear I'm alive and will be posting more often since all of the chaos is over now. 😂 I hope everyone had a good holiday season though! If you got any new critters like I did this season, do share! 🥰
