Community Farming

Welcome! Four growers and a wider community have set out to create something new to this area--a viable farming cooperative--to build a thriving, egalitarian, transparent, and mutually nourishing farming community.

We find examples of practicing community in farming and permaculture--in how the plants react to each other, how they support each other and fight against weaknesses and invasive species, and thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our Mission: We are committed to growing a cooperatively-run (grassroots) farm business in which every worker is an owner. Our business model is based on defining profit as economic sustainability, (mutual) social liberation, and responsible stewardship of creation.

Growing Philosophy We practice regenerative agriculture by growing organically, enhancing the health of the local ecosystem and watershed of our land, and by cultivating integrated connection among all the members of the earth.

We use 100% natural methods. All of our fertility is natural and as local as possible--we will never use a synthetic fertilizer. We focus on soil health, encouraging healthy ecosystems and growing practices that regenerate the earth instead of misuse or destroy it. We never use GMO or pre-treated seed.

We are market gardeners. We practice small-scale, intensive organic farming or “market gardening." Our garden covers less than an acre, but by growing our plants close together and in close succession, we are able to make our efforts economically viable. Our CSA membership is active for the entire 2020 season. Our goal is to enrich the community through food and fellowship. To accomplish this, we offer perks to our CSA members. We highly encourage our members to see the garden in action. Contact us to set up a tour and be prepared to be amazed at the beautiful setting! CSA members will be treated to a farm harvest party. And, beginning May 20, your weekly CSA shares will be available for pick up at a downtown South Bend location in the heart of the community. After all, community is at the heart of our CSA.
