It’s National Mascot Day and what better day to share our new t-shirts available in the farm store and our favorite adorable farm hippo!

Yesterday was a long, long day of checking pastures, health checks on calves and mommas. Aidan wore the worst of it clearly. 💩😂

Flies and ticks can be a huge problem and potentially fatal to cattle, lambs, pigs and even poultry if we don’t keep an eye. This is extremely important when they are on pastures and in tall grass. We try so many preventive measures like spraying and cleaning the shade areas and barns weekly, hauling manure frequently as well as dragging pastures to breakup 💩 piles. We also implemented a boot/tire sanitation process to prevent carrying something from one farm to the other.

So many things go into herd health beyond those cute livestock pictures we share. This is also why we don’t have the barns/pastures open to public foot traffic at times.

If dramatic sleeping were an Olympic sport, Burrito Finn would bring home the gold. This baby donkey naps so hard daily that he’s stopped all of us in our tracks to make sure he’s not unalive. 🥇🫏💤

Currently we ask that anyone coming to the farm store PLEASE do not go into the pasture or barns without us knowing you are here. We are a working farm 24/7 with moving equipment, bio security processes in place, electrified fencing and protective dogs.

Our cute little donkey is one week old today and has officially been named by his new bff Bexley. 🥰 (📸: Barbara)

Meet….Burrito Finn (burrito means little donkey in Spanish and Finn because he just needed a middle name)

He’s an awkward cuddler, always in your personal space and gets the zoomies when the sun comes up every morning. In my opinion, everyone needs a baby Burrito in their lifetime. 🫏

Thanks to Chantal for being as excited as I am about his birth and feeling the need to make him a birth certificate! 🤩

☀️ SUN Bucks are back in Ohio! 🍎🥪

The Ohio Summer EBT Program (SUN Bucks) helps eligible families purchase groceries during the summer months when school meals are unavailable. Eligible children can receive a one-time benefit of $120 to help keep them healthy, active, and nourished all summer long.

Many families will be automatically enrolled and do not need to apply:

✅ If your child currently receives SNAP, benefits will be added to your existing Ohio Direction Card.
✅ If your child receives Ohio Works First (OWF) but not SNAP, they will automatically receive benefits on a separate card mailed to your home.
✅ If your child received Summer EBT last year and qualifies again this year, benefits will be loaded onto the same card.
✅ If your child does not participate in SNAP, OWF, or another qualifying program, you may need to submit an application.

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks is proud to partner with the Children's Hunger Alliance and Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel to help raise awareness about this important program.

🌐 Learn more about Summer EBT at ohiosummerebt.org and apply at sebt.ohio.gov

Together, we can help ensure children have access to nutritious food all summer long. 💚
