A young member of our local farmworker community, Yanet Hernandez, passed away far too soon. While I didn't know Yanet personally, I know how much our farms depend on the hard work of farmworker families, and how important it is for our community to show up for one another in times of loss.

If you're able, please consider making a donation to help her family bring Yanet home to Chiapas, Mexico, so she can be laid to rest surrounded by loved ones. If you can't donate, sharing the fundraiser is also a meaningful way to help.

As a mushroom farmer, I know how little we truly understand about the fungal kingdom. The U.S. National Fungus Collections represent more than 150 years of painstaking work documenting that diversity—but in many ways, those 150 years are only the beginning of the fungal frontier.

I believe fungi hold many of the keys to a more sustainable future. They have the potential to help us grow food more resiliently, restore ecosystems, cycle nutrients, sequester carbon, and discover new medicines. Preserving our knowledge of the fungal kingdom is essential if we're going to unlock that potential.

Today, the future of the U.S. National Fungus Collections is uncertain as the USDA reorganizes research facilities. Without a clear plan and adequate support, these irreplaceable collections could be dispersed, become inaccessible, or lose the staffing needed to properly preserve and curate them—a tremendous setback for mycology, agriculture, and scientific discovery.

If you believe this work is worth protecting, I hope you'll take a moment to sign and share this petition. The future of fungi—and what they can teach us—is still being written.

🌱 Spring is here—and the farm is waking up fast.
We’re excited to share that we’ve started adding more fresh, certified organic produce to our farm store and online shop—alongside the mushrooms you already know and love.
Right now you’ll find:
🥬 Mustard greens
🔥Spicy greens mix
🫜French breakfast & pink beauty radishes
All grown with the same care and intention we bring to everything we do—fresh, vibrant, and full of life.
This season is also a great time to connect more deeply with where your food comes from. Our CSA is open for enrollment, with flexible options to either:
🌿 Harvest your own in the field
🧺 Or use weekly credit at the farm store
And if you’ve been curious about growing your own mushrooms, we’ve got a hands-on opportunity coming up:
🍄 Mushroom Gardening Workshop – May 23
Spring moves quickly out here, and there’s a lot to take in—we’d love to share it with you.
