Ever had bread baked over an open fire?

Campfire bread is simple: wrap dough around a stick and bake it slowly over glowing coals until golden brown.

Turns out it pairs surprisingly well with a beach fire, good company, and a cold cider on a Cape Cod summer evening.

🔥 Campfire Bread Recipe 🔥

🥣 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
🥛 ½ cup warm milk
💧 ½ cup warm water
🍞 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
🧂 1 tsp salt
🍬 1 tsp sugar
🫒 2 tbsp olive oil (optional)

➡️ Mix all ingredients and knead into a smooth dough.
➡️ Let rise for about 20 minutes.
➡️ Roll into long ropes and wrap around a roasting stick.
➡️ Bake slowly over hot coals, turning frequently until golden brown.

For centuries, taverns have been places to gather, exchange ideas, share stories, and build community.

Join us this Thursday at in Falmouth as we explore tavern life in Revolutionary times together with the Historical Society.

We’ll be there pouring cider — including our Revolutionary Dry, inspired by the spirit of 1776 and America’s 250th anniversary.

After the presentation, guests will have the chance to create their own tavern sign to take home.

Registration is required and space is limited.

We hope to see you there.
